JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Summary

The Youth Director’s role is to participate in our mission to “Be disciples of Jesus who multiply disciples together” by leading our Youth Ministry, equipping our junior high and high school age students as disciples of Jesus, and their parents as the primary disciple-makers of their kids. The Youth Director must have an intergenerational vision to see teens mature as disciples of Jesus on our discipleship pathway. The Youth Ministry Director is a servant-leader who multiples ministry by equipping teams of volunteers to serve, teach, invest in the youth of the church, and resource parents to raise their kid(s) to love Jesus and love people. This role will require building relationships and collaborating with local parachurch ministries and other youth leaders serving in churches in West Seattle. This individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, strategic and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.

Qualifications

  • Fulfill the duties required of Trinity West Seattle members as outlined in the membership covenant.

  • Fulfill the character qualifications of Deacon or Elder as taught in the Scriptures.

  • Ability to teach God’s word by creatively engaging those of various ages.

  • Prior experience in leading youth ministry and resourcing of parents.

  • Proficient at multitasking, time management, prioritizing and organization.

  • Ability to work with and maintain positive and loyal relationships with others.

  • Experience as a leader and recruiter of volunteers for building a healthy youth ministry.

  • Ability to build teams and equip leaders to lead ministries.

  • Theological and/or Christian Education preferred, but not required.

SCOPE

  • Plan and coordinate all youth ministry gatherings, groups, and special events.

  • Recruit and equip volunteer teams to accomplish the disciple-multiplying vision of Trinity.

  • Partner with Kids Ministry Director to shepherd and equip parents as the primary disciple-makers of their children.

  • Plan creative age-appropriate activities throughout the year in coordination with other local ministries.

  • Develop annual ministry plans which are in line with the church mission and vision and regularly evaluate how goals have been attained or reevaluate and modify as needed.

  • Support the Trinity staff at “Special Events” where youth are involved.

  • Build relationships and strategic partnerships with other ministries and schools in West Seattle in order to serve and work together for the good of the youth in the community.

Schedule

  • 30 hours per week.

  • Sunday worship service, Monday staff meetings.

  • 10 additional hours per week are reserved for completing studies and assignments for those receiving seminary stipend.

  • All other hours Monday-Saturday: flexible to meet job requirements.

Pay and Benefits

  • $50,000 per year. Hourly pay based on national average wages for part time staff, previous experience, and Seattle’s cost of living.

  • $10,000 additional education stipend available for seminary students.

  • 1 hour of paid time off (PTO) for every 40 hours worked (to be used within the calendar year with no carry over)

  • 1 hour of paid medical/sick days for every 40 hours worked with a maximum of 40 hours of medical sick days to carry over into the next calendar year.

  • Paid Holidays to include MLK Jr., President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving.
